OUR STREET

Our Street was commissioned by Jeremy Mills of BBC 2 in 1985 to show the people who live in Hugh street, St Marys, Isles of Scilly With an ordnance survey map and photographs and sketches of each house from peoples attics it took a whole summer to paint
Because their were no ariel photographs the painting has artistic licence on the perspective but each house is in the correct place
The programme was shown in 1987 and led to other Birds Eye commissions of Tresco Gardens and the largest of Trewithen Gardens which took two years to paint.
